On November 12, I had the honor of attending and performing at the Westchester NCADD (National Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse) Marty Mann Benefit Awards Dinner.

Marty Mann founded the NCADD organization in 1944, she was the first women to get sober by embracing treatment programs. The Marty Mann Award is very special and presented to those who have made a significant impact in the fight against the disease of addiction. The award was presented to Scott Clark (Sports Director, Sports Anchor WABC-TV), Brig. Gen Donald Lee Singer (Chief of Greenburgh’s NY Police department, DWI enforcement) and Harris Stratyner (Vice President Caron Treatment Center, Clinical Director NY Region). To wrap up the evening I listened to an amazing inspirational story/message from Darryl Strawberry (Major League Baseball Great: NY Mets/ NY Yankees). I was honored to sing “Amazing Grace” the theme song for those in Recovery.

I look forward to upcoming events with the NCADD. Thank you Joan Bonsignore (Executive Director for Westchester NCADD) for your support and letting me be a part of your organization.

November 1, I hopped on the train again this weekend for my CASAC training in White Plains, NY.  I really enjoy the training program which is preparing me to become an Addiction Counselor.  Having a Teen Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program for the past four years, it’s great to learn how I can make a better difference in helping to educate our youth on the causes of addiction and how their lives can be effected.

I would like to Thank the NCADD office in White Plains for this opportunity.
