100 Laps Complete With 100 More To Go!

Snack Time!
Wow! Â The race was spectacular! Â I’ve been to Indy races before, but having the opportunity to attend one of the most prestigious races was such a thrill.
The day started off at 5:00am when the alarm went off to wake me for the exciting Limo trip over to Daytona. Â The drive was around 3 hours, but I admit, I did sleep a bit. Â We arrived at the race with the other 200,000 fans. Â Believe it or not, we didn’t have any traffic problems.
There was so much to do, but we didn’t want to miss the events prior to the race so after a little shopping and scouting out the food, we headed to our seats. Â The weather started out a little chilly and then warmed up. Â I found myself taking off a couple of layers of clothing only to put it back on a couple of hours later. Â It was so cold and I was so thankful for the hot chocolate.
It was exciting to here, racers start your engines!  The sound was amazing.  I could hear the roar of the engines echoing in my ears.  The drivers were ready to go and as the green flag waved for them to start, the over 40 cars where grouped together like a chain.  After a few laps, there was the first wreck.  Luckily, no one was hurt.  At around 130 of the 200 laps the race was halted due to a problem on the track.  It resumed over an hour later only to have it halted again.  I think the fans were getting a bit anxious, but I was just getting colder and colder. Finally the race started again, and then before you knew it, it was over.
Off to the Limo we went. Â The ride was great going home. Â We watched a movie and I had a chance to visit with my family and friends. Â Now, I’m setting my alarm for 4:30am, to make sure I make my 6:50am flight back to New York.

best.
