I’m so excited to be Miss Greater Gotham and be a contestant at this year’s Miss New York America Pageant.  Many of you know that my Platform is “Reaching Teens Before Drugs Do.”  As a crusader for educating tweens and teens on alcohol and drug awareness, my Title seems appropriate.  New York City also known as Gotham City is where Batman protected the people of Gotham City.

I would like to thank everyone for their support!24002_884158562042_5127487_49640554_1485354_n

March 20, 2010 6th Annual Northeast Chocolate Festival in Albany, NY Benefiting the Addictions Care Center of Albany (www.theacca.net). I judged the Kids only Karaoke Contest, Spoke and Kicked off the Karaoke Contest by Performing. The event was great! It gave kids a chance to have fun and aware them of the dangers of drugs and alcohol. I was excited to give a message to the kids that emphasized, they can accomplish anything they put their mind to. I was so impressed by how so many kids got up to sing and they all did an amazing job. I saw some future stars that day!

I was so excited to visit my old school in Fort Worth.  I couldn’t believe how the school had grown in just five years, with over 350 new students.   The Fort Worth Academy Of Fine Arts was established to integrate girls into the school of the Texas Boys Choir. The school offered all of the performing art classes that I loved.  I was a member of the professional choir, The Singing Girls of Texas, on the dance team, and very active in their drama department.  Attending the school was very instrumental in my career growth.

I had the opportunity to sing Opera and share with the students how important school is and to take every advantage that it has to offer.  As the Youth Spokesperson for the National Council on Alcohol and Drug Dependence, I explained to them the important of staying on the right track and they could achieve their dreams.  I hope that I made an impact in their lives.

I was so excited to visit Fort Worth, Texas on my Spring Break. I used to live in TX so I had an opportunity to not only have some of the best barbeque in the world, but see some old friends who I have missed. While I was there I stayed with a very good friend of mine and every morning walked one of my new best friends Giget (one of the cutest dogs in the whole world). I have never seen another dog have so much energy, she actually walked me for the first couple of miles.

I had the opportunity of being the guest of Nicole Johnson, Miss America 1999, at the 2010 Miss Tampa MAO local pageant. Nicole is so inspiring, she is has taken her Platform “Diabetes Prevention and Awareness” and has become an international diabetes advocate. Not only has she written four books, but she has been appointed the Director of Education and Outreach for the University of South Florida Diabetes Center and continues to serve on numerous health related advisory boards. If you get a chance, Check out Nicole Johnson’s website: http://www.nicolejohnson.com/index.html.

Congratulations to Miss Tampa, Allison Martin. The Bob Clark, the Director really organized a fabulous production from the choreography of the girls, to the performance crew, and host including Nicole Johnson.

While I was in Tampa, I wanted to brush up on my Martial Arts and Self-Defense techniques. I visited Anthony my First Martial Arts Instructor at his studio Martial Arts Advantage. Anthony is a Great instructor. The first class I ever had with him was over two years ago before I moved to New York. Anthony also introduced me to my teacher Marcos Santos in NY.

The first lesson Anthony taught me was right out of a movie. We were standing in the office and he asked me one question, “What can you use as a weapon?” Well that was easy, since my favorite show is CSI, the door, chairs, glass vase, etc.. When it come to defending yourself against someone who is trying to hurt you, you have to be not only creative but aware of your surroundings. Always be aware of the exits and try to keep some object in between you and your attacker.

I had an opportunity to not only learn new tricks, but I filmed some Self-Defense tips that I will post on the internet soon. To know self-defense is so empowering that I encourage everyone (especially women) to go to a marital arts studio and learn as much as you can. Thanks Anthony!

Supermodels was proud to donate all the proceeds from their Fashion Show held at Ultra 2 Lounge in New York City.  The event was great and celebrities from Project Runway, Yankees, Television and Broadway were their showing their support.

I arrived at 9am to prepare for the 8pm show.  I really enjoyed the having my hair and make-up done by some great artists.  I especially loved the swaroski crystals that were added to my eyelashes.  Of course, anything that sparkles is a friend of mine.   I loved modeling the purple dress.

The show was fun and I had a chance to see some of my friends.  You all looked beautiful.  It was great fun meeting the celebraties and The Obama Girl, she is amazing.  The evening was filled with dancing and great company.

I loved my make-up!
