This is my  second year attending this amazing luncheon.  I always meet the most fascinating people.  This year the program featured Steve Ford, Actor and son of former President Gerald R. Ford.  He has appeared in more than 30 major motion pictures and spent six yars on the Emmy Award winning daytime soap opera The Young and The Restless.

The Marty Mann Founder’s Award went to William G. Borchert for his exceptional contributions to public and professional education about alcoholism and other drug-problems.

The NCADD Corporate Partnership Award was established to honor corporations who stand up and support NCADD’s Mission by utilizing their corporate resources to increase public understanding and support for alcoholism and drug dependence prevention, intervention, treatment, and recovery support.  This award was presented to Hallmark for their 2010 movie “When Love Is Not Enough: The Lois Wilson Story” and the 1989 movie “My Name is Bill W.”  Both movies brought a powerful message of hope, help and healing to millons and served as the start point of recovery for thousands of individuals and family members.  In addition, the inspirational message of recovery from both movies will be seen on DVD by millions more, as they are used in community-based and school-based prevention programs, as well as treatment programs around the world.  I hope you if you have the opportunity to view these movies if you have not seen them yet.

It is always so nice meeting people who are always inspiring others.

The beach was awesome.  Yes, training never stops!  However, I do have to say I had fun running on the beach

Luckly, while I was visiting my parents in Tampa, I had the opportunity to go Daytona.  My father is the Chairman of the Board of the Florida Hospital Association and they had their annual Board Retreat in Daytona which was a great time to be home visiting.  We had a sit down dinner on the verada at the hotel overing looking the Ocean and it was so beautiful.

I had an opportunity to talk with CEO’s from Hospitals around Florida and they were gracious enough to let me practice my interview skills.  It was a great working weekend!

Next, I was off to West Palm Beach to the Breakers Hotel for a retreat with the Foundation Board of Morton Plant Mease one of my Dad’s hospitals.  He is the CEO’s of Baycare Health System that includes nine hospitals with over 18,000 employees.  He is very busy!

After school was out, I went home to visit my family, BUT that wasn’t all.  I spent time getting ready for the upcoming Miss New York Pageant in Albany on June 25 & 26th.  I had so much fun visiting David and Carry at Regalia’s and found my evening gown for the pageant.

I spent time with my trainer, Carl for body building and cardio with my martial arts trainer, Anthony.  I’ve been training in self-defense for over two years and some of the things that I have learned are amazing.  One of my most interesting sessions included weapons training.   I learned safety precautions as well as how to shoot a handheld weapon.  The purpose of the lesson was to help me handle a weapon and to be able to protect myself if ever faced in this type of situation.

I also don’t want to forget spending time with Joseph and Violette Meyers, my former vocal coaches.  I always love my singing lessons.

Once back in New York, it was more shopping and vocal training with Joan Capland, who is my Vocal teacher at my school, The Manhattan School of Music.  I’m really excited about performing in this year’s pageant.

The GO RED FOR WOMEN Luncheon was so much fun.  I had the opportunity to sit with Mr. Stephen Chan, who is absolutely amazing.  He has a wonderful personality and I had such a great time visiting with him.  He was a judge at the Miss Asia Pageant in Toronto and he loved the experience.  We certainly had alot in common.

His company Dapasoft Inc. is a software development and IT consulting firm.  They take pride in being innovative and delivering high-quality, customized solutions to our clients in a variety of verticals including steel manufacturing, healthcare and public service.   He is a major supporter of the Go Red For Women Event.

The Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD), had their event fundraiser the ANGEL BALL, in Long Island on  May 4, 2010.  The Master of Ceremonies was Scott Clark.

I sat with friends and was delighted to sit next to Ben Vareen, you may know him from such musicals as Hair and Jesus Christ Superstar, as well as roles in Funny Girl and All That Jazz to name a few.  He gave me some great performing advice.

The 2010 LICADD Humanitarian Award Winner & Kenote Speaker was Christoper Kenndey Lawford.  It was nice seeing him again, as I met him while performing at an NCADD event in Florida two years ago.  He’s an amazing speaker.

I also met the Long Island Youth Council who are very dynamic group of young ladies.  Their council is helping to combat the rise in Heroin in upstate NY.  I am so proud of them for all their efforts and standing up and saying  NO to alcohol and drugs.

I had a wonderful weeked!  I flew to Orlando on Sat., May 30th to my dad’s annual retreat.  For the past six years, I have been attending the event and have the pleasure to entertain the Board and guests with Opera.  It’s like homecoming to me because I have the opportunity to see so many people who have been so supportive of me over the years.  They always get a thrill to see how may voice has changed.

This retreat was especially fun, because Early Clover came to perform and as always it is such a pleasure and learning experience for me to perfrom with him.  The room was set up with a night club atmosphere and everyone had such a good time.

Thanks to everyone for your support and friendship.  You have always been so sweet to let me entertain you.  I truly believe it’s these times that have helped me to gain valuable expereince to further my career goals.  THANK YOU!

The next morning, I was on a plane back to New York for my busy schedule the next week.

On April 18, 2010 in Rockaway, Long Island I performed at the awards ceremony for the “3rd Annual Heroes Run/Walk” a fundraiser for the Building Homes For Heroes Organization. There were a few hundred people there all running the race. It was great to see so many supporters. I had the honor of singing “God Bless the USA,” which is one of my favorite patriotic songs!

One of the most exciting things, was meeting the oldest runner who ran the 5K and was 90 years old. What an amazing man.

I had a great time during Easter! I visited my Grandparents in Morris, IL. along with my Aunt, Uncle and two cousins. It was great to see my grandparents again. My grandmother is one of the coolest ladies in the world, she writes me a hand written letter every week!  At Christmas I sent her an album full with pictures of all that I have done this past year.  The first thing she wanted to do was to have me go through the Album with her.  We both had such a good time.

On Easter Sundy, I went to church with the family.  Grandpa Art donated a Baby Grand Piano to the Church and one of things he loves most is hearing me sing while it’s being played.  He just turned 90 years old and call still play the piano beautifully.  I was happy to sing for Grandpa and the Church members.  It was a wonderful Easter program with music from the Messiah.

After Church we all went to Aunt Betty’s house for a yummy Easter Dinner.  Thank you Aunt Betty! Your food was amazing, I wish I could have eaten the entire Bunny Cake!. .

I’m so excited to be Miss Greater Gotham and be a contestant at this year’s Miss New York America Pageant.  Many of you know that my Platform is “Reaching Teens Before Drugs Do.”  As a crusader for educating tweens and teens on alcohol and drug awareness, my Title seems appropriate.  New York City also known as Gotham City is where Batman protected the people of Gotham City.

I would like to thank everyone for their support!24002_884158562042_5127487_49640554_1485354_n
